Most Facebook Groups Are Fake

So yesterday, as usual, I sat down and scrolled down my (very confusing) newsfeed on Facebook, when I come across this:

First 750,000 Get a Free Smiley Hat To Help Promote Our New Clothing Line!!!

Unfortunately, I can no longer locate the page itself. This page basically claims that anybody who likes the page before they hit 750,000 likes will get a new hat from their "new clothing line".
At first I was like "wow, maybe I can get a crappy hat for free!!" But after looking at the page, I saw that the hats were actually the high-quality kind, meaning that they would probably sell for about $15, making the total cost of all the hats around $11,250,000. WHAT KIND OF COMPANY WOULD DO THAT?!?!
Well, no company at all. Nowhere is it said what this "new clothing line" is. I'm sure that the maker of this group would have changed the name right when the group hit about 700,000 likes, only for the satisfaction of having the massive amount of likes, or a virus would be sent by email to the people who actually went and decided to post the color that they wanted on the one (this was one of the directions for getting the hat). And if they do ask you for your mailing address, SHOULDN'T YOU BE A LITTLE CONCERNED?!?!?!
I feel bad for those 300,000 people that I saw had liked it... Stupid people.
